T-minus 4 days until Thanksgiving! After I shared my Thanksgiving look and plans here, I asked you about yours. Like me, many of you aren’t doing much for Thanksgiving, but still want to get dressed and feel a little normal. And, after many 1:1 conversations, it was clear that we’re all in need of some outfit inspiration these days!
Based on your feedback, I put together 6 outfit ideas using 3 sweaters that you likely have in your closet: a cream cable crewneck, a beige turtleneck and a camel cardigan. And even if you don’t have those, hopefully you have a crewneck or a turtleneck! Remember: you do not need these exact items. My hope is that you can use these collages as springboards to build your own looks with what you already have! I also peppered in the same accessories throughout – all of them basic and classic – in the hopes that you can see how easy it can be to throw together cute looks with simple pieces.
Here are the three sweaters I’m featuring:
Cream Cable Crewneck – I’ve been wearing this non-stop! I’ve actually had this sweater for a couple of years and really enjoy the texture and oversized feel. It’s soft without being hot, and cozy without being sloppy. I feel like “oversized” seaters can be hit or miss but this is a hit in my book! I sized up one size for more room, but run between a small-medium in this brand.
Beige Turtleneck – Another staple I’ve had going on two years! I don’t love to shop at H&M but honestly their sweaters are blends and are much more comfortable from an itch standpoint. This one fits tts and still has a roomier shape which makes it great for a variety of pants, leggings included.
Camel Cardigan – THE cardigan is honestly one of my favorite purchases this year! It’s so versatile and looks amazing on all body types (Elsa styled it here). I have it in camel and am hoping to snag another color before it sells out again! It does run more oversized so many people size down. I took my true size (small) and while I have plenty of room, I can still wear it without a shirt underneath (my favorite way to style it) and layered over tops and feel put together, not frumpy.
So without further ado, some Thanksgiving inspo:
CREAM CREWNECK: MONOCHROME MAGIC
The outfit I’m wearing in the picture above! When in doubt, go monochromatic. This is my secret for looking far more put together and “with it” than I feel – it even works with loungewear! Adding various shades and textures of white and cream makes the look come together and would work with any color. I’m wearing my favorite white jeans (size down two sizes). Pairing them with accessories like a scarf and hat (both c/o) feels so fall to me. My boots in the picture are sold out, but I tagged a similar style that comes highly recommended!
CREAM CREWNECK: TEXTURED + COOL
Same sweater, cooler vibe. I love me some pleather pants, and I have last year’s version of these. Mine are more kick flare vs. jogger, but I dig the jogger vibe for 2020 😉 This formula (fun pant + cozy sweater + sneakers) would also work with any textured or printed pant or more formal jogger. I’d keep my accessories simple. Adding neutral sneakers keeps the vibe casual and comfortable which is perfect for home. These sneakers run small, I’m an 8.5 and wear a 9!
BEIGE TURTLENECK: COMFY + CLASSIC
This may look fancy but this skirt is so damn comfortable. The elastic waist does not pinch and the cut is SO flattering, not tight around the middle at all. Pairing a slip skirt with an oversized sweater is a vibe and one that I am always here for. This would work with any slip skirt or oversized sweater (turtleneck or not). Add fun flats and hoops and you are good to go! Booties or pumps would work, but I personally like the feminine touch of a pointy flat. This bag (c/o) is a favorite of mine, I plan to wear it on Thanksgiving!
BEIGE TURTLENECK: CASUAL AF
If you’re not about that dressed up life, this is the outfit for you! See what I mean about monochromatic still looking put together even when it comes to loungewear? Keeping all of the pieces in the same color palette just works. This would be so cute in navy, black or camel too! I don’t have this exact pair of sweatpants, but most of my joggers are from Abercrombie. I am freaking obsessed with them. They hold up well (I literally wear mine almost every day) and still look great after spills and washes. Also you can never go wrong with a blanket scarf and this cream one goes with everything.
CAMEL CARDIGAN: LADYLIKE DENIM
This is 100% something I’ve worn on casual Friday! My favorite skinnies (size down one size) and cardigan make for an easy, everyday look. That being said, adding the loafers, studs and a bow make it a little more festive. Wearing a cardigan solo is one of my favorite outfit hacks – I love the slightly sexier look of the v-neck! I added a crossbody by one of my favorite sustainable brands, Cuyana.
CAMEL CARDIGAN: LEGS FOR DAYS
Oh hey, leather leggings! I actually wore this outfit a couple years ago for Thanksgiving. I don’t love leggings with cropped shirts, so a crisp white tunic is my favorite pairing. The leggings run small, so size up – you can also find more casual outfit ideas here. I’d keep the cardigan open or wear this sweater blazer that I have in three colors 😉 Again, big hoops and easy loafers pull the look togeether, while a fun bag adds interest!
Okay, that’s all folks! I hope these help inspire you to shop your closet and wear something you love this week, regardless of your plans!
