How to Style a Striped Pullover 4 Ways

How to Style is back – with a twist! Typically I style one item multiple ways for different occasions or locations, but this time I focused on four stay-at-home friendly looks that you can recreate with items you probably already have in your closet!

Honestly, for the past month plus, my days of “getting dressed” have been few and far between. Mentally I just couldn’t get there, you know? I started with pajamas, moved to loungewear and finally, this week, I really hit a turning point. I’ve found, slowly but surely, that some semblance of a routine really helps me get through the day and, for me, that routine includes getting dressed and putting together outfits like I did before we were in isolation.

I’ve always loved styling myself and others – it’s a passion I picked up at a young age, nurtured through a part-time career in retail and continued by helping friends and shopping my own closet! Styling my daily looks is a form of self care for me and after a few weeks of putting it on the back burner I realized it’s also something I really missed. Even though I’m not going into the office (or going out much at all), when I get dressed I feel like my best most confident self. I definitely still have days where I hop right into (chic) loungewear, but I’m trying to have those days be few and far between. So, for this #HowToStyle I figured I’d style something that can be worn at home with options for layering should you choose to go outside!

The piece du jour? This striped pullover! It’s a relatively new purchase (snagged during my loungewear phase ?) that I’ve been living in! I love it because even though it’s casual, it can totally be dressed up or down and – bonus – the heavy cotton makes it multi-seasonal! Inventory is low but hopefully it will be restocked! I also love this one, this one, this one and this one. Another great (but not striped) option is this terry fleece from Dudley Stephens – the funnel neck is super similar!

And now, the looks!

CHIC CASUAL

This is the chicest of the looks, IMO. I am a huge Everlane fan and have these wide leg crops in two colors! They are so comfy and the perfect solution when you want to look put together but feel comfortable. I paired them with these neutral Allbirds (washable shoes are my best friend rn) and a denim jacket (my favorite spring layering piece!).

COMFY CASUAL

Leggings but make it fashion! This look walked right out of a J.Crew catalog and I am not upset about it! A white button down is my secret trick to pulling any outfit together (have you noticed I wear one in almost all of my HTS posts?) and this tunic is no exception. I added neutral sneakers because…I only wear sneakers now. I’m a big fan of J.Crew’s in house athleisure line – these leggings are the perfect high rise! They are sold out in this color, but these and these are super similar.

EASY CASUAL

Throw on a pair of jeans and call it a day, amiright? This is by far the easiest look, and it includes my favorite cozy (yes, cozy) denim and white (and sustainable) sneaks! Classic, casual, but totally cute (and Zoom appropriate!) ?

SUNNY DAY CASUAL

I love denim shorts and I live in them as long as I can. Since I’ve been inside where the temperature has been pretty moderate, I’ve been rocking denim shorts all the time and loving it. I’m working on a post with my faves (I am super picky) which will definitely include these. I paired them with my white birks and my second favorite spring layering piece: a military jacket!

Now tell me, which look is your favorite? If you style a similar outfit, don’t forget to post it and tag me on Instagram – I love seeing your looks!
