Fall 2020 Bucket List

It’s finally here! I’ve mentioned this before, but after creating a bucket list for our move we’ve really loved the idea of creating bucket lists for seasons or time periods. I’ve seen so many fall-focused lists around (check out my friends Lindsae, Monica, Meghan for more inspo) and now that we’re officially in move mode I’ve been inspired to flesh out what we’re looking forward to in October and November.

Our past list really gave us something to look forward to during a stressful and emotionally trying time and our new list is all about embracing where we are at and making most of the season. So, whether you’re so excited about a place or space or time that you just want to write out everything you want to do, see, make and create, or you’re really sad and stagnant and creating goals and dreams lifts your spirits – a bucket list is for you!

I have to admit, at first we just created a list of things we were looking forward to but a lot of them were really specific to us (ex. visiting Claire, Bun and the boys) so we shifted it a bit and created a share-friendly version that may speak to you, too!

Make An Apple Dessert

I’ve been loving crumbles this year (and have my tried and true formula) but may go out of my comfort zone and make a pie! Ideally I’ll pick the apples myself but at this point in the season there may not be any left. Fingers crossed!

Carve a Pumpkin and Eat the Seeds

Even though I despise Halloween, I love pumpkins! I have the fondest memories of carving pumpkins with my dad and eating my mom’s roasted pumpkin seeds. If you’re not eating the seeds are you even carving pumpkins?

Drive to See Foliage

I think there will be gorgeous leaf peeping near our NJ abode, but I’d love to make a mini-trip out of this, even if it’s just an afternoon. We may even combine this with our annual fall visit to Litchfield!

Go on a Date Somewhere New

Prioritizing date night has been so key for us during these wonky times! Coming up with new and different ways to spend time together is a fun activitiy in and of itself – and then we actually get to do it! I’m thinking a new restaurant or even a day date to a park or museum we’ve never been to.

Make GF Cinnamon Rolls

I freaking love cinnamon rolls but never eat them anymore because I don’t know how to make them myself! I think this year I’m finally up for the challenge. Anyone have a great recipe? I’m thinking this one.

Watch a Movie We’ve Never Seen

When you want a new experience but have to stay inside – a new movie it is! We are movie people and while we have hundreds of staples, I’d love to go through the archives and watch some new to us old films. Or new releases that we missed. I’m sure there are plenty!

Pop Popcorn on the Stove

Because popcorn is a dope snack and the microwave kind is not. This is so easy but something we never do. Will likely combine this with the new movie 🙂

Roast a Turkey

We’re not 100% sure what Thanksgiving will look like this year, but I’d love to finally learn how to roast the big bird. It’s a lifelong skill ya know?

Tailgate at Home

If C is going to be watching #sports at home then we might as well make it fun right? I’m thinking a grazing board, custom clean cocktails and some team-themed accessories are in order!

Swap out Skincare

Did you know your skin changes with the seasons? I’m working on a post on this, and will definitely be upping my hydration this fall and winter. Fill out this form if you need help doing the same!

Create a Fall Capsule Wardrobe

I’ve never done a capsule wardrobe so after we move, I’m thinking I may try it! Maybe just for a week to start, but I think it will be a great way to get excited about what I already own and feel inspired to get dressed at home.

Donate Gently Used Coats and Clothes

With the seasons shifting (and with our move) I’m revisiting my fall wardrobe – including coats! If I’m not wearing it then someone else could be! Keeping my eyes peeled for places that are still open for donations.

Stay in Snugglies ALL DAY

This is C’s favorite on the list and one I’m pretty excited for too! My in-laws have a fireplace and I cannot wait to get in my jammies, sit by the fire and spend all day curled up with my boys. I’m committed to embracing a full day of relaxing, with no plans, agenda or pressure to “get stuff done”.

Make S’mores

This is a two part task – I have to figure out how to make s’mores that I can eat (will def involve this chocolate and these paleo graham crackers) and then figure out how we’ll roast the marshmallows! Thankfully we’ll have a fireplace and firepit at our disposal, but if we didn’t we could use the stove 😉

Find the Best Clean Fall Candle

I love my diffuser, but come fall and winter I reaaaally crave candles. Most conventional candles are super sweet smelling (and fragrance filled) but I’m determined to find one that is cozy, comforting and clean. You best believe that when I find it, I’ll share it!

I hope this list is helpful, inspiring and encouraging. C and I look forward to checking off all the fun fall things with you!

I love seasonal bucket lists! I find it great motivation to get out there and almost be forced to do the fun things! I am almost done with my own bucket list, but lemme know when you make those GF cinnamon rolls, and I’ll be over in a flash, hahaha…but actually! Happy happy fall, Nora!
