C’s Gifts for The Guys

Hey gang! C here. This year Nora asked me to put together a gift list for husbands, boyfriends, brothers and dads. So here are 20 of my favorite things that I hope you love for ALL of the favorite men in your life. Now, without further ado, let’s get to it!

1. Quilted Crewneck – I’m a sucker for all things comfy cozy. This one in particular is quilted for superb warmth and comfort. It reminds me of Patagonia, but at a more reasonable price. It’s casual enough for weekends but polished enough for the office too. Great for any and all dudes in your life – brothers, dads, partners, you name it. I’m normally a blue guy but this red was calling my name (it comes in 5 other colors). | $64.95

2. Cozy Slippers – I love me some L.L.Bean slippers. House slippers are a classic staple in my COVID wardrobe. Yes, I said house slippers. They’re super snuggly. Who are they for? People with feet. I’ve had multiple pairs and cannot recommend these enough. | $89

3. MEATER – The Meater is the ULTIMATE grilling tool! You insert the meater into raw meat before throwing it on the grill or in the oven, select the type of meat and desired temperature and it’ll tell you when to flip it and when it’s done via an app on your phone. No more overcooked meat, bros. We gave this to my dad for Father’s day and it’s been a huge hit. It’s that thing you don’t know you need but once you have it you can’t imagine grilling without it. | $99.95

4. Lake Pajamas Top and Pants – Nora was the first on the Lake train and I finally decided to try them for myself. Guys, I gotta tell ya, the hype is real. I tend to get cold at night and these keep me super warm without overheating. They’re also super soft. But not too “matchy matchy”. Who says pajamas are just for ladies? Not me. I literally do not say that. | $60 and $75

5. Silk Eye Mask – If you’re like me, you love your beauty sleep. Nora tends to be an early riser and opens the windows. With this mask, I never have to worry about being able to sleep in on the weekends. Super comfy and made of silk, this is definitely the classiest of the masks I’ve worn. Don’t knock it ‘til you try it. Great for new parents and dudes that love a good snooze. | $50

6. Counterman Charcoal Body Wash – Oh man do I love Counterman! I’m such a great Beautycounter husband. Seriously though, this smells delicious (in a masculine way) and the pump action makes it super easy to get out and apply. This is for the man in your life that values self care. Or works out a lot. Nora tells me it keeps skin clean and clear and is great for detoxifying, for whatever that’s worth. | $25

7. A Donation to an Alma Mater – Here’s a creative idea for those proud dudes with school spirit (my father-in-law). Make a donation in their name to a meaningful scholarship fund or department. My FIL loves the University of Illinois and follows their golf team, so that’s always a go-to for us. Check to see if there are fan clubs for sports teams or even staff emergency funds – teachers and professors are essential workers and are doing so much for students right now.

8. The BEST Joggers – I have five pairs of these and they are the bomb diggity no doubt. If the men in your life haven’t tried joggers yet, now is the time to introduce them. These are reasonably priced but hold up really well and come in great neutral colors. Love the pockets that ZIPPER so my stuff doesn’t fall out. Also they are a great price! | $29.90

9. Books – I asked my Father-in-Law for some help here. He’s an avid reader and loves to give books as gifts! Here’s what he said about two recent favorites:

The Man Who Ran Washington, the life and times of James A. Baker III by Peter Baker and Susan Glasser : James A Baker is a political who got things done and this book captures his accomplishments of over thirty years in Washington, D.C.  Baker was counselor to four presidents, secretary of state and treasury and had a seat at the table and reading this book you feel like your were with him.

Leadership in Turbulent Times by Doris Kearns Goodwin : In this book Goodwin captures the leadership of four presidents-Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Lyndon B. Johnson.  The book is an interesting study of ambition, adversity, resilience  and moral purpose.

10. Chef’s Apron – I love cooking in the kitchen (clearly). But if you’re like me, you spill a lot while doing it. Enter: the chef’s apron! This keeps all my clothes clean and makes me look like a professional. Who knows, maybe I’ll debut it on the next cooking with Christian 😉 Nora says these aprons hold up the best, are easy to clean and fun to monogram. | $24.95

11. Support Local Restaurants – It’s no secret to old time Purely Nora fans that our fave restaurant is L’Artusi in the West Village. Times have been really hard for restaurants this year with COVID, so be sure to support your local favorites by buying swag or gift cards to help keep them afloat and create a special memory for a dude in your life. L’Artusi is doing catering, bottling their sauces and selling swag – all of which make great gifts. This is great for foodies, parents, and siblings and/or their spouses. A gift that is thoughtful but also does some good!

12. The Complete Marvel Cinematic Universe (one set shown) – Every Marvel movie from Ironman to The Avengers: Endgame, this set is EPIC for die hard comic fans like ya boy C. | $228.98

13. Stadium Fan Cutout – A lot of stadiums this year (from college to pro) are letting fans buy cardboard cutouts of themselves to sit in the stands! For that ultimate fan in your life, snag a cutout of them and send it to their favorite team so they can be there in spirit while their favorite team plays. This is great for all different sports and events, so look into your local options too.

14. Team Mask – Another great way to rep your team in style? Wearing a mask with their logo. I have New York Jets masks which have been great conversation starters when we’re out and about. This online shop carries my favorite options. | $10

15. University or Team Pennant – Nora and I discovered Americana Memories at a Bazaar on the UWS on our way to Trader Joe’s. Steve scours the US for pennants and memorabilia from colleges and teams all across America and has some of the best vintage finds. We’ve bought some for ourselves and have given them as gifts too. A special gift great for the die hard alumni in the fam. They only put a fraction of what they have on Etsy, so give Steve a call with questions – he’s super helpful and can find you what you’re looking for.

16. Apple Airpods Pro – These next two gifts kinda tie together. I’m a huge music fan, specifically electronic dance music, and these airpods have great sound quality and cancel outside noise for the ultimate listening experience. No more clumsy wires or hard to hear conversations. They are expensive but so worth it. Also you can get them for $50 off right now on Amazon! | $199, usually $250

17. Bose Speaker – I love to listen to music in the shower. It’s a great way to start the day and rock out while you shampoo. This speaker has tremendous sound quality, is loud if you want it to be, and can go with you anywhere (great for travel or moving around the house). Great for music fans and parents who want a speaker that’s easy to set up – this one is virtually foolproof. | $79 right now, normally $129

18. Karhu Sneakers – For the sneakerhead or stylish dude in your life, these sneakers are super comfortable and very different. Not only do they look snazzy but they’re hard to get your hands on. I bought these for myself earlier this year and wear them all the time – I always get compliments on them and like that they’re not your average Nikes. | $145

19. WeatherTech Inserts – We’ve all seen the commercials, and while cheesy, these car inserts actually make a great gift. Send your dad or Father-in-Law a gift card and they can customize whatever they need. Super great for dudes in cold weather climates or those with pets.

20. AppleTV – I’ve been on the AppleTV train since it first came out. Even if you have a SmartTV, it’s a great and easy to navigate place to view everything from Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime to Disney Plus and ESPN. Now that we have this, I can’t imagine not having it. Such a great gift for parents who don’t realize how much better their lives could be with easy to use technology!
